My husband and I are heading to USA in August for a couple of months to visit family in Colorado. We would like to spend some time during our visit with a barrel horse trainer or breeder or ranch. Both my husband and I train and compete on rodeo horses here in Australia. My husband is a farrier and breaks in all types of horses as well as trains rope horses. I train barrel horses , particlularly futurity horses and have a hand in rope horse training as well (as well as being a manager at a natural resource management and property planning firm). Both my husband and I compete - I barrel race, breakaway rope and team rope and my husband team ropes and steer wrestler. We were both born and bred on cattle stations and have been in the rural industry particularly the area of horse, cattle and land management our whole lives.
We would dearly love to spend time with a trainer or on a ranch in USA to gain some experience.......you can never know too much!..........and in the future perhaps an extended vistit to USA to utilise our skills in the USA horse industry.
Can anyone help out or make some suggestions whom I could contact or where I should start searching?
