So I decided to register Denali with the buckskin association.
Need some ideas for a name....any ideas?

I'd really like to have sire's and dam's registered names to go off of, but here's a few that come to mind just looking at him:

Classy Khaki, or even a variation on Classy, something like Classic?

hmmm, maybe even something with Mocha, or Cocoa, cause of his color?

I dont have his pedigree. I am registering him with the buckskin association.

I looked at him, and the first one that popped in to my mind was Grey Chrome. kinda boring, but its bold, and he does have a lot of beautifull gray on him.

Hmm.. Maybe DallDarkNGrullo.. haha idk!

Jenet, what are the requirements to register him with them? Just kind of come up with an original name to be registered by? Do they have to run the name through a database of some sort to make sure it hasn't yet been used or anything like that?

Im not too sure yet. I just sent my membership for the association in so I will find out.

Im just trying to find a witty clever name for my boy. I don't know exactly what requirements there are but I will definately find out soon! So far, I like these the best (it has to stay under 15 characters)

it looked to me like thte horse has a dorsal stripe...if that is true then he cant be registered with the buckskin association...buckskins dont have a dorsal stripe that horse would be qualified as a dun....

The buckskin association is now including duns and grullas.

oh ok...i had no idea that they were was just asking now i know LOL.....I have a line back dun btu she is a paint so there for i know nothing about that association LOL i knew that they were very picky a while back

Lol, help me out with this one....when they registered Jessie at three years old, who in the world thought "Chinchilla Jessierose" was cute??
I mean, she was registered in August of that year, according to her papers, so it wasn't yet winter, she couldn't have been all that hairy or anything, no longer a cute little fuzzy foal, so where in the heck of it was ANY horse in her pedigree named Chinchilla?? LOL
I dunno, maybe that's a town in Mexico that the guy was from or had family or an old lover in
I do know that the Jesse James line was popular and I wonder if they weren't trying to make her sound like something she's not by registering her name that way, lol
If I could change her name today, I'd rename her, based on her pedigree, "Docs Special Lady" or
"IB A SPECIAL MELODY" something kinda sweet, but definately not reminiscent of some hairy animal!

I don't know how to put the link in so this is the best that i can do.... but i want to know what goof came up with her name.. don't see it anywhere in her pedigree .... for goodness sakes she goes back to Man O'War 3 times and there are so many others in her pedigree that could have lent a hint of a name.

Oh well that is why i wanted to see papers on everything else i got so that i can at least name them decently...

thinking of names can def be complicated! esp. after you have named a bunch of horses! i like catchy names starting with all the same letters
