Dakota, my 4 year old mare, has been diagnosed with a medial meniscus injury, which is a stifle injury. The hopes of barrel racing her in the future dont look too great. She is so slightly off in this leg, but evidentially its pretty serious.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I just feel like I am about ready to call it quits. First I lost my good barrel horse last year to colic, and now my only other hope has an injury (mind you that she is so slightly off from), that she may never be able to even start barrel racing. Where am I going so wrong??

BRC16, You have been through a tremendous amount this last year, Im really sorry to hear about dakota, but don' give up, things get hard and the goings get touch but just because life knocks a few barrels over doesn't mean you should quit the rodeo.it is clearly something you love to do, and even though I'm sure it feels like God is making it very hard for you to move on. Dakota is young and well cared for, maybe it will be something you will be able to manage, there are a lot of GREAT horses out there who don't have perfect health/ soundness, or maybe this is just a part of the road to lead you back to a different horse, no matter what, dont give up, have faith plus I am pretty sure seven put in a good word to the big man for you, dont give up, the suns always going to rise in the morning.

Try THE's NutraWound on her before you give up, that and some Acuscop or BioScan treatments. The T.H.E. is kind of spendy but I have heard of really great results, horses coming back from life threatening injuryies with it.

I know how ya feel my mare was injured in 04 she was tangled in the fence both of her back legs were mangled to nothing....then after i had just started working barrels with her again she coliced and had a large intetine compaction that was sergury im now gettin her back into the game it seems like something is always going wrong i hope everything turns out well for you and your horse
